Martin Cracauer Homepage Forum Don't get confused, this is just my homepage, not really a message board. I implemented it as a forum for reasons you can find here.

So why did I choose to implement my homepage as a forum? Mainly because I don't have the time to do things in the control-freak way anymore and this allows me to put stuff on the web much quicker than my previous combo (m4, CVS, Makefile, rsync).
This forum doesn't allow you do post anything, but there are still advantages for the user.
What do you gain from it?
You will always see things in the order I wrote them. If I add something that topic will move up, so the last touched topics are always on top
You can get email everytime I change a topic (thread) you are interested in
You can send me quick PM's (private messages)
In the future I might allow people to post
I think the most interesting feature is getting email notification when I add something, and you can narrow it down to the individual topics you are interested in
Here is how you get notifications where I add something to a topic. Let us say you want notification when I add something to the thread about my program cstream, e.g. when I make a new release.
Easy steps:
You need to register and provide a valid email address(*)
You visit the thread you like
You click "Watch this topic for replies" on the bottom of this page
Done. Everytime I add something to the thread you'll get a notification
(*) I will never share that address with anybody.
As I said, right now nobody but me can post here. However, I am considering opening parts of the board to people who sent enough reasonable remarks by PM or email. No promises, lets see how this works out.
One more thing about PMs (private messages) and emails: unless you say otherwise, I will feel free to post valid concerns and remarks on my pages and answer your remarks publically. I will give your name but never your email. If you don't want this, or want it done anonymously, please indicate so in the PM or email.
